We had the nicest evening. (This may be an incredibly bland blog post, but see if I care!) We went out to eat, all three, since Danny had to go to Office Depot. The first place we went, there was a huge crowd. It was about 6:30 p.m. and we wondered what in the heck was going on. Then it occurred to me: This is probably in the top three Most Major Going Out to Eat Nights of the entire year. Everyone was out for Valentine’s Day dinner. We went from one place to another and finally settled on Chili’s because it’s right next to Office Depot. That way we could get on their seating list, but then go to the store and come back.

In Office Depot, they played Blue Oyster Cult’s “Don’t Fear the Reaper.” So for several minutes, all I could see in my mind’s eye was Will Ferrell dancing around with his blasted cowbell. When we got to Chili’s, we were able to walk right past the horde and get seated. Our food was good, refills plentiful, and ZOEY ATE FOOD. Seriously. Granted, we had not allowed her so much as a snack and we were eating dinner at like 7:30, but hey, the kid ate. She ate all the corn bread off her corn dog, then ate half the dog. Had a couple pieces of broccoli and a couple of her dad’s fries. Drank her water. A little bit of everything. At the end of the meal, she started leaning all over Danny, as she usually does when she starts to get antsy in a booth, and started to tell him every other minute that she loves him. It was so darned sweet. And then on the way home, more than half an hour before her bedtime, she fell asleep.

My Valentine’s Day did not include chocolate OR flowers, and I honestly could not care less.

By the way… There is a series of DVDs featuring various celebrities’ best SNL skits. One of them features Chris Walken. Target had it awhile back for $5.50. Best $5.50 we EVER spent.
